Another Great Research Tool - Works Cited Made Easier

Frustrated

Putting together all your ideas and knowledge into a research paper is quite a project.  There are so many things to keep track of.  Then, typically, I have sat down at the end with all my notecards to type out my bibliography.  The formatting rules and such are challenging.

There are several free tools available on the web to help properly format and cite all of your sources of information for your research.  Easybib.com is one of them. I recommend that you check it out.

How it Works:

If you put the information in for a specific source of information it will properly format your bibliography entry (MLA format) for you so you can copy and paste it into your bibliography.  Your sources can include books, magazines, web sites, interviews, pictures, or pretty much anything.  You can save this project and continue adding to it with a free online account (ad supported).

Other Useful Features:

  • Sweetsearch.com Integration: If you use sweetsearch.com as your search engine (highly recommended for student research) then you can automatically send useful sources to your Easybib list by clicking on the check mark by the various resources and then clicking on the "share" icon. yolink share icon
  • Research Tools: There are hundreds of thousands of sources being added by students up through college level all the time.  If you use the research search engine at EasyBib then you can find out if someone else has used a source about your topic that you might be able to access.
  • WorldCat Integration:  EasyBib connects to this world database of libraries.  If you find a source you want it can tell you if it is available at a library near you.
  • Information Credibility Tools: EasyBib has a list of questions (and sometimes answers) that can help you evaluate how reliable your sources of information are.  This is one of the most important places for you to use your critical thinking.
  • Note Taking and Outlining Tools:  This is part of a paid (premium) version.  Their tools for notetaking, outlining and compiling/organizing ideas are pretty impressive.  At this point we don't have the money to support this but maybe we will in the future.

Students and teachers should check this great resource out.  It will make life easier and help us invest more time in the more important tasks of reading, thinking, understanding, writing, and evaluating.
