6th Grade Social Studies

The purpose of our sixth grade social studies curriculum is to provide knowledge and understanding of the people and culture of the Western Hemisphere with emphasis on Canada, Mexico, Central America, the Carribean and South America. We will focus on the geography, history, civics and economy of these regions. We will also expand the knowledge of present and past civilizations in relation to the five themes of geography,culture and history.

8th Grade U.S. History

The main focus of the 8th grade curriculum is from Early European Exploration period through the Reconstruction Era. This course is the study of America's past and how that past relates to the present and the future. Students will learn how geography affects the economy, social, political, and cultural developments in the various areas of the United States.

Interactive Notebook

All students are required to keep a notebook for this class known as "Interactive Notebook".  This notebook will not only be a way for you to stay organizes with class notes and handouts but it will also be a way to more of an independent thinker and beoming more creative.

What materials will you need for the Notebook?

1). Spiral Notebook                                                                                                          

• Spiral bound
•  At least 70 sheets or more

What are somethings that should be included in the notebook?

• Classroom notes
• Graphic Organizers
• Classroom discussions or debates
• Homework assignments
• Journal entries /questions
• Brainstorming entries

What happens if I am absent?

YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE for any work you might miss so make sure you make up whatever you missed. Talk to a classmate or friend in the class.
